New to Hull SENCO Training
Following the success of last years New to Hull SENCO Sessions we will be delivering this again for the 2021-22 academic year. This course consists of a series of virtual twilight sessions providing support and guidance throughout the academic year, with 5 sessions during the Autumn term and then a further session in each of the Spring and Summer terms. This course is aimed at newly appointed SENCOs who are either new to the role or new to a school in the city of Hull, this course may also be beneficial for anyone who is new to a role supporting a SENCO for example an Assistant SENCO or Deputy SENCO.

Course Title: New to Hull SENCO Training
Overview:
For a comprehensive introduction to the SENCO Role in Hull delegates should aim to attend all sessions.
Session 1: SEND frameworks, legal responsibilities, and categories of need
Session 2: Identifying SEND, the graduated approach (APDR) and record keeping
Session 3: Hull City support services
Session 4: Working with parents and carers, writing one-page profiles, writing targets and individual plans
Session 5: School based interventions, statutory process and annual reviews
Session 6: Update meeting, supporting transition
Session 7: Update meeting, strategic planning
Course Cost: Free
Number of Delegates: In order to support discussion and conversation we aim to keep the number of delegates to no more than 15.
Venue: Sessions have been shaped to be delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams
Time: 3:30pm – 5pm
