Overview 

This SENCO Forum will provide a summary of key SEND updates. The focus of this session will be on identifying and supporting learners mental health and wellbeing as well as raising awareness of the support services available to support children and young people.

New to Hull SENCo Training 

Following the success of the New to Hull SENCO Sessions delivered over the last two years we will be delivering this again for the 2022-23 academic year. This course consists of a combination of afternoon face to face sessions and virtual twilight sessions providing support and guidance throughout the academic year.  Two face to face sessions and a single virtual session will be delivered during the Autumn term and then a further virtual session in each of the Spring and Summer terms.  

This course is aimed at newly appointed SENCOs who are either new to the role or new to a school in the city of Hull, this course may also be beneficial for anyone who is new to a role supporting a SENCO for example an Assistant SENCO or Deputy SENCO.

Course title: New to Hull SENCO Training 

Overview: 

For a comprehensive introduction to the SENCO Role in Hull delegates should aim to attend all sessions.   

Session 1(Face to Face): SEND frameworks, legal responsibilities, and categories of need, Identifying SEND, the graduated approach (APDR) and record keeping  

Session 2 (Face to Face): Working with parents and carers, writing one-page profiles, writing targets and individual plans, school-based interventions, statutory process and annual reviews  

Session 3 (Virtual Briefing): Hull City support services  

Session 4 (Virtual Briefing): Update meeting, supporting transition  

Session 5 (Virtual Briefing): Update meeting, strategic planning

Session 2: Thursday 6th October 2022 

Session 3: Thursday 20th October 2022

Special Educational Needs is a constantly changing landscape, with a number of changes taking place locally in the city of Hull in recent months. To support our educational settings to maintain an up to date knowledge of SEND in Hull and to create further capacity within their settings, we have developed some training sessions to help our education providers understand their duties in relation to the SEND assessment and review processes.

Course title: EHC Plan Review Process Overview  

Overview: 

A virtual training session aimed at colleagues in educational settings who hold or support the Education Health and Care Plan Annual Review Process. The course will detail the EHCP Review process, legal duties on educational settings as well as practical advice on how to manage this as well as how to complete the EHCP Review Meeting documentation in use in Hull.

Course title: EHC Needs Assessment Request Process Overview   

Overview: 

A virtual training session aimed at colleagues in educational settings who complete the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment Request (EHCNAR) documentation. The course will detail the EHC Needs Assessment Statutory Process, with a focus on the key role educational settings play within this process and how to complete the EHCNAR documentation in use in Hull.
