How is an inclusive environment provided?
Every school has a desire to celebrate the diversity of the City of Hull which underpins their inclusive ethos.
An inclusive environment is one in which all learners feel supported both academically, physically, emotionally and socially, to develop a sense of belonging and community underpinned by each schools’ own policy on routines, rules and boundaries.
To support the inclusive ethos of their school each setting will ensure that pupils experience positive, trusted adult role models, who provide a daily model of language, learning and social behaviour within a supportive and positive environment.
All pupils will have access to effective pastoral support to enable any concerns and difficulties to be addressed including support to access additional support from partner agencies where appropriate and where the need is greater than can be provided by pastoral care alone, as well as a broad and balanced curriculum which includes a focus on PSHE in line with the statutory DfE guidance.
All schools work towards the achievement of a Whole School Approach to supporting pupils’ mental health and emotional wellbeing in line with the DfE/PHE and Ofsted guidance with the support of HeadStart Hull Schools policy and practice officers to achieve the HeadStart Hull Mark of Excellence.

In accordance with statutory guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021 - The physical environment for students safe and secure and protects them from harm or the risk of harm.
All schools provide an environment and curriculum that meets their duty of care to ensure the safety, health and well-being of all pupils including reasonable adjustments to the learning and physical environment of the school. All schools are required to have an accessibility plan outlining the steps they are taking to improve access to the curriculum, the physical environment and to information.
